Employment :: Senior Health Physics Technician
Education:
Position requires a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Health Physics or closely related discipline, or Graduate of the U.S. Navy ELT Program, or five (5) to ten (10) years related experience and/or training (of which one year of experience is in environmental health & safety and five (5) years experience as a Senior Level Health Physics Technician), Experience must involve implementation of 10CFR835 or 10CFR20.

Current HazWoper (Required)
OSHA certification (Desired)
RCT Certification (Desired)
Job Description:
- Working Knowledge and understanding of NRC regulations and safety issues, familiar with EPA and OSHA regulations.
- Conduct and document field and laboratory sampling surveys;
- Interpret and verify field data accumulated from surveys and monitoring activities;
- Compile and write detailed work plans for site-specific projects, technical and business correspondence and final reports;
- Training of personnel in health physics and safety;
- Perform Senior Technician duties on small and large-scale surveys, site re-mediation, laboratory, and closure projects;
- Perform dose assessments, shielding calculations, licensing, design of laboratories, QA/QC programs, emergency plans and procedures;
- Perform effluent monitoring, sealed source inventories, and dosimetry program reviews;
Utilize and Calibrate survey equipment and instrumentation;
- Conduct safety evaluations on health physics field, laboratory, and medical equipment;
- Provide guidance on regulatory requirements for best health physics practices.
- May be assigned to perform responsibilities of Team Leader position, supervising from 3 to 8 person teams conducting health physics support tasking for commercial and government projects.
