Employment :: Junior Health Physics Technician
Education:
Position requires a AA or AS degree from accredited college or trade school, or two years college including appropriate science courses and one year of experience in an environmental health and safety program (i.e., RCT certification program, the Navy ELT Program, and degree programs in health physics or a closely related discipline.), Or 5 years Junior HP Technician experience with field and remediation project time. Experience must involve implementation of 10CFR835 or 10CFR20.

Job Description:
- Familiar with and understand NRC, EPA, and OSHA regulations and safety issues;
- Demonstrate knowledge of health physics material, ALARA, respiratory protection practices, contamination control for best health physics practices and general safety practices;
- Conduct and document health physics field and laboratory sampling surveys;
- Monitor health physics work;
- Interpret and verify field data accumulated from surveys and monitoring activities;
- Ability to set up, calibrate, maintain and use survey instrumentation and equipment;
- Interpret and adhere to health physics and safety controls and programs;
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements for health physics practices;
- Ability to work well under the guidance and supervision of Senior Technicians;
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the Health Physics Safety Program;
- May be assigned to perform over watch and guidance to deconers and laborers while conducting health physics support tasking for commercial and government projects.
